    In 1950, after a catastrophic fire in the Capitan Mountains of New Mexico, a small Black Bear cub was found to have miraculously survived the flames. The cub was named "Smokey", and grew to become the icon of forest fire prevention. These U.S. postage stamps were issued in 1984 to promote public awareness to the prevention of forest fires.
    Please note that the sheet pictured is a stock scan. The sheet you will receive has full, unmarked, selvage (including corners) and undisturbed original gum. It is not mounted to any surface and is guaranteed to be just as fresh as when it was purchased in a post office 37 years ago.
    It would look especially nice framed (with selvage, it measures approximately 10 1/4 by 9 inches) and would make a great gift.
