Description
This beautiful '63 Dart GT has been a great 1st car for my son, but now he's not driving away to school and needs to sell. This GT was built at the LA factory and lived in LA it's whole life. We purchased from the son of the original owner 3 years ago. We immediately it to our mechanic for a top to bottom inspection before it became a daily driver. New Pertronix electronic ignition along with spark plugs, cap, rotor, plug wires and coil. New gas tank and rebuilt original Carter BBS carb. Compression test between 144 and 151 psi in all cylinders. Fuel system was completely flushed as was radiator and heater core. Engine and transmission filers and fresh oil. Kenwood bluetooth headset and new 6x9's added by Al & Ed's Autosound about 2 years ago. New rear shocks along with American Racing Torque Thrust wheels 15x7 in back and 15x6 in front with new Uniroyal Tiger Paws in 215/60 and 205/60 15 were added last summer and have about 4K miles on them. An alignment was done after new wheels and tires. Regular maintenance every 3 months since it doesn't get a lot of miles. Battery was replaced earlier this year. This classic has been repainted in a correct 1963 Dodge Medium Blue though it left the factory in White from what we could tell from the body tag. The original owner had it repainted sometime in the 80's in powder blue from what we were told. The newer single stage paintjob is more recent and was done with all trim and glass removed so it looks very clean and has a great shine. New windshield and gasket as well as all rubber and seals from Classic Industries. The interior as we bought it was redone in leather and is in great condition though the fit around the door armrests isn't perfect. The carpet appears older and does show wear in places but very presentable. There is no cancer but light surface rust underneath, and evidence of a few welded floor pan areas can be seen from the extremely clean and dry underside.
Pro's: This classic runs great and I would drive it anywhere. All gauges, lights and indicators work, charging system, etc. Trusted it to transport my son for the last 3+ years. It's made 5 trips from San Diego to Santa Barbara and back over the last school year with no issues. Brakes straight, drives nice, looks beautiful. Pump the gas 2 times and she starts right up everytime. The pushbutton automatic 3 speed TorqueFlight is fun and easy to cruise in. Clean appearance and sleek lines of this unique GT always gets smiles wherever you go.
Con's: The paint does have a chip above front drivers headlight bezel. There are a few bubbles under the paint on the drivers rear wheel opening, and a slight push in the drivers side rear quarter as seen in the pictures. The paint could be cut and buffed to eliminate the orange peel seen in the right light but not much attention was paid to blocking the car perfectly straight before painting. Welded floor patches seem nice but could have been undercoated or painted. Some of the chrome trim shows it's age more than others. Transmission does leave a few drips on the driveway, but not consistently. Drivers side tail light is cracked and missing a piece. Trying to be up front and honest about it and what I see as flaws. This is not a completely restored classic in concours condition- just a clean, well maintained, good running daily driver head turner.
